Who We Are

We are beautiful, smart, sassy, sexy, silly, sarcastic, stylish, strong, socially conscious, educated, hard-working, outspoken sisters (see the resemblance?).

Even though we were raised by the same people, we don't necessarily agree on everything. We all have our own style, flavor, personalities, and more important, our own opinions. We, along with our fabulous, intelligent and witty friends & associates have come with this site in an effort to vocalize OUR issues in OUR words.

tb_image The name of the site was inspired by clever and hilarious comedian Chris Rock and his 2005 Never Scared stand-up comedy routine. In his infamous monologue on relationships, he says, "You’re never gonna meet the perfect person... [E]ven if you meet the perfect person, it ain't gonna be the perfect time. You're married, they're single. You're Jewish, they're Palestinian. ... You're a black woman, he's a black man. There’s always an obstacle in the way."

yb_image Always an obstacle in the way? Wow. Funny, but true. Or should we say, sad, but true. We wonder: why is it so hard for us to come together? A black woman / black man combination should be natural. So, then why does it seem so hard? This is the question that we are trying to answer. We would like to open up the lines of communication between black men and black women. While we’re at it, we may as well take it a step further to build a stronger dialogue between ourselves—sister to sister and brother to brother.

Overall, our goal is to help improve our communities, eliminating poverty, domestic abuse, steadily increasing incarceration rates, deaths due to health issues, illiteracy, and crime. The African proverb that "the ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people" is true. One by one, we need to improve ourselves, so that we can improve our families, our communities and eventually our nation.
